In 1918, THE EVENING RECORD had a section called “HACKENSACK LOCALS”. It would tell of upcoming events in churches or civic centers, and also of prominent people and their families and what they were doing. The article below mentions H. Kent Hewitt's mother, who was traveling to Pa. with her daughter, who would have been H. Kent Hewitt's sister. They lived on Maple Avenue, then across the street from where Holy Trinity Church is today. The house his mom and dad owned had been knocked down and a bi-level home is located on the property today. H. Kent Hewitt is also listed on the Honor Roll listing along with the other 800+ names. Only Commander H. Kent Hewitt and Captain Harry Doremus have their ranks mentioned along with their names.
